                                    Air Force Accessions (2002-2008)

Maj Shea took a career broadening position as an Assistant  Professor at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI).   At VMI, Maj Shea taught the junior curriculum; his classes consisted of Leadership, Management Military Doctrine, National Security Policy and Communications.  As

 well as teaching the juniors, Maj Shea was the case manager to approx. 100 cadets annually.  Maj Shea was also tapped to serve as the Air Force Representative for the Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership (VWIL) at Mary Baldwin College.  The VWIL Program is the only all female Corps of Cadets in the world.  While at VWIL, Maj Shea served as the day to day manager of the 160+ corps.  Maj Shea also served as the Air Force Webmaster while assigned to VMI.  Maj Shea immersed himself with the cadet population by going through the various rituals as the "Rats" and breaking out with them. 

Maj Shea was reassigned to Canonsburg, PA as the Commander of Recruiting Support for the 311th Recruiting Squadron.  As the head of Recruiting Support, Maj Shea was in-charge of a 4-state area, with 57 offices, a $5M+ annual budget, 80+ vehicles, for 130 military and civilian personnel. The 311th Recruiting Squadron oversaw the accession of 3000+ job seekers into the Air Force.   Also during the time Maj Shea was at recruiting, he had to absorb a 25% operations budget hit while still maintaining operations.  As a senior Air Force representative, Maj Shea gave numerous speeches

on Airpower, military history, and benefits of the Air Force.  Maj Shea 's finance section was deemed the best in all of Air Education and Training Command for his out of the box management of the budget.
